Eye & Lightning Books announces a number of acquisitions to be published during 2020

Today we announced part of our publishing schedule for the coming year, with eight new titles.

Our editor-at-large Scott Pack says of them: ‘We are kicking off 2020 with a very strong list comprising established award-winning authors, more than one enlightening vision of the future, and a couple of cracking debuts.’

The eight books are:

• Let Me Be Frank, a new graphic memoir from New Zealand comic-book artist Sarah Laing

• Beneath the Streets by Adam Macqueen, a thrilling 'what if?' debut set in the murky world of 1970s politics
  ‍
• The Darlings, the long-awaited second novel from Edinburgh Festival First Book Award winner Angela Jackson
  ‍
• Walks on the Wild Side, John Pakenham’s historical account of his 1,500-mile treks around Lake Turkana in northern Kenya: extreme travel in a vanished world
  ‍
• Isaac Newton's 21st Century Entanglement, a remarkable debut novel by acclaimed futurist Noel Hodson
  ‍
• Please Do Not Ask for Mercy as a Refusal Often Offends by Paul Bassett Davies, a darkly comic dystopian crime novel
  ‍
• Anyone for Edmund?, the fourth novel from Simon Edge, this time turning his historical comedy talents to St Edmund, England’s former patron saint
  ‍
• The Girl from the Hermitage by Molly Gartland, an enchanting debut set in a changing Russia, listed for a string of prizes in manuscript form.

The acquisitions will be published across 2020, starting with Let Me Be Frank in January.
